As Louiis pictures show there has been an improvement between updates.
I do see the thinner area behind which still has time to catch up. You’re a slow steady grower. I’d say by 13 months you’ll probably know the final result for sure.
If it’s still thin you may need another surgery to add some density if it bothers you.
What had the doctor said about the progress?

Is it possible you were allergic to something from the surgical procedure that resulted in the scabbing and the growth being thinner than expected?

Hi Bigmac, Dr F replied to me today and said its most likely i'll need a little touch up for the area where the scabbing was as it could have affected blood flow to the grafts and their survival. Although there still could be more growth, so we will review in a couple of months time.

I am going away on a big backpacking trip for a couple of years from October, so regardless of the final result I will wait until after that for a touch up as the recovery period after a HT was very limiting to life!

Not sure to be honest. I had loads excess Fibrin whilst on my flight home, maybe I flew home to quickly and should have stayed in Portugal for longer..

Hopefully, it keeps increasing in density. Your backpacking trip should be good. It will provide plenty of time for the result to be final.
Enjoy your trip of a lifetime.

I thought I'd post some photos of how the hair is looking three years later in harsh lighting and just in general photos.

Overall I am super pleased with it considering the complications I had! I still need a top up of 500ish grafts to increase density as theres a few small bald patches where the scabbing was. Does anyone on here have experience with Dr Ruk? I live in brisbane now so considering the top up session with him instead of flying all the way to Portugal.

Your hair is looking good. Is it possible you lost more native hair? What has dr Ferraires said to you? I would reach out to him first before going ahead with a touch up.
Is Dr Ruk the guy that was with the DHI franchise, then set up on his own?
What takes you to Oz anyway?

Hi SHart,
I'm confused.... on Monday's post you're "super pleased" but on Tuesday you say you have concerns it was a" poor outcome".
From what I can see of your before and after pics at 3 years post op, the results look great! A massive difference from where you started.
I have no knowledge of Dr Ruk but I understand where you'd be hesitant to travel from Brisbane to Portugal for a small touch up session.

Hello Bigmac, not sure it's a loss of more native hair as those areas had no hair pre transplant either. Last time I had emails with Dr F he just suggested it was from the severe scabbing. I met Dr Ruk for a very brief 5 minutes last week and his salesperson quoted me $14k AUD for around 1000 grafts of which I've said no to. Moved to Oz for the lifestyle change, weather and at the time I was fully over living in England.

Hey Janna,

I had the consult with Dr Ruks salesperson, and they made it out that my hair transplant was a failure which made me question did I really have a good outcome for the number of Grafts I had done? I decided to go with Dr Ruk as it would be $14k for the touch up session.

Luckily, I still have family in the UK so I am going back to visit them so a quick trip to Portugal isn't too bad!

I would probably hold off doing anything right now. It sounds to me that Dr Ruk calling it a failure is wrong. Some grafts may have failed to grow but the overall result has come through. Like you mention, visit Dr F sometime in the future while on a visit back to the UK. That is what I would do.
I hope it all goes well in Oz.

no offense but people who comb their hair forward are usually balding people who dont like their hairline and want to hide it. I suggest that now with your result you start combing your hair backwards.

I think this has got better since your last update to be honest.

It looks pretty good. I fully understand your want for a little more density though but from your start point it’s good

The touch up quantity would depends on where the grafts are needed. If the hairline needs filling or reinforcing that needs singles which would mean more. If it’s gaps further back then using multiples and less grafts to bulk it would work.

Going back to Portugal is much the better option. If Dr Ruk was worth the money we would have at least heard of him

Hey mate yeah, I meant to say NOT go with Dr Ruk. I've had some good communication with Dr F recently so I will be going ahead with the top up session in April! I will be staying for 5 days post-surgery this time to make sure no issues happen due to flying too soon etc!

I'm three weeks away from my second hair transplant so I thought I'd post some photos as I've grown it bit longer in readiness for it. Is there any cases on the forum of people having second/ top up sessions done? I can't seem to find any! Really hoping the recovery will be easier this time round as its only 900 grafts!

Your hair looks great as is. What part are you having topped up?

I agree it does look pretty good. Seems you had ok growth after the worrying start.

I see in the top down photo you have coverage but a top up for density wouldnt hurt.

Is it just a generally 900 grafts throughout to add to it all?

I thing the plan is to just the frontal third again mainly at the hairline where the heavy scabbing was as super thin there
