Farjo Hair Institute Manchester | FUE 2200 | May 2023

Hello all,

Just thought I’d share my experience of a HT with the Farjo Hair Institute in Manchester.

I had been considering a HT for around ten years but was always worried about the pain levels both during and after surgery. I joined this forum three years ago and found it really useful to read all of the experiences posted.

This time last year I plucked up the courage to book a consultation with Dr Farjo based on numerous good reports that I’d read here. He set my mind at rest regarding the procedure and so I booked my surgery for May 2023. By this point I was probably around Norwood 5 or 6 and Dr Farjo recommended 2200 grafts, concentrating on the front of my head as the recipient area.

On the day of surgery I found the whole team professional and friendly, helping to ease my nerves. The surgery took around 8hrs but the local anaesthetic meant that I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure. Before I left the surgery I was given a bottle of painkillers to use over the first few days if needed but I found that I didn’t have any pain post-surgery and so didn’t use them. Sleeping upright for the first few nights wasn’t the most comfortable but I could live with that.

I’m now nine months post-op and I feel that the results are amazing. The hair at the front of my head is thicker than I had expected and I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner! Below are some photos showing before and after - I'm planning to go back for a second procedure with the crown as the main recipient area this time.

Farjo is a great Dr, I have the same amount of grafts as you but spread over a larger area in July 21. Its made a good transformation for you and with the crown your transformation would be great. Did he suggest oral minoxidil for you? You still have some progress to go. Out of curiousity any reason he did not going any higher and spread the surgery over 2 days? For me personally it was due to donor management as I tried to push him up to 2,500.

I agree - I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Farjo. We did talk about minoxidil but I told him that I was reluctant to go on medications long term.

He suggested that it was better to concentrate on recipient areas at the front as that what most people notice when you're meeting them/talking to them and then revisit the crown area at a later date once I was happy with the results at the front.

Fair enough, I was initially reluctant about oral minoxidil until I researched after but main thing is you are happy with your result and the plan.

Hi, I agree, my experience with Dr Farjo was second to none, I had just over 2000 grafts to the hairline, 6 months gone now and looking good. I was totally bald on top. May I ask, how does yours look, any pics available please.
