Hello all,
Just thought I’d share my experience of a HT with the Farjo Hair Institute in Manchester.
I had been considering a HT for around ten years but was always worried about the pain levels both during and after surgery. I joined this forum three years ago and found it really useful to read all of the experiences posted.
This time last year I plucked up the courage to book a consultation with Dr Farjo based on numerous good reports that I’d read here. He set my mind at rest regarding the procedure and so I booked my surgery for May 2023. By this point I was probably around Norwood 5 or 6 and Dr Farjo recommended 2200 grafts, concentrating on the front of my head as the recipient area.
On the day of surgery I found the whole team professional and friendly, helping to ease my nerves. The surgery took around 8hrs but the local anaesthetic meant that I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure. Before I left the surgery I was given a bottle of painkillers to use over the first few days if needed but I found that I didn’t have any pain post-surgery and so didn’t use them. Sleeping upright for the first few nights wasn’t the most comfortable but I could live with that.
I’m now nine months post-op and I feel that the results are amazing. The hair at the front of my head is thicker than I had expected and I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner! Below are some photos showing before and after - I'm planning to go back for a second procedure with the crown as the main recipient area this time.
