Hi Bobbybeans, I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy but without pictures and more details it’s hard to comment. As Baldingman says, starting your own thread in the patient section will be
Completely agree with @Bigmac - we need to able to have a look at before and after pictures to assess whether your result is below what was expected from the number of grafts extracted.

I am really sorry that you feel this way.

Blimey, what a coincidence. Having heard nothing from them for 13 months, a mere 12 hours after posting on here and I receive a message from them to arrange my 12 month review.

Christ, after mine I was messaging Sommiya almost daily for the first 6 weeks! Also giving them regular updates. Any reason you haven’t reached out to them?

Bobby, are you going to post your pictures or send me a private message to confirm you are their patient.

I'm at the 9 month mark after receiving over 4,800 grafts - the most extensive procedure the clinic had ever done as of Feb. I completely understand that a large area was covered in one surgery and I wasn't expecting any absolute density from the procedure but after having 12,000 hairs moved from the back of my head to the top of it, I feel like I'm currently seeing 30% of these and it's worrying me. My hair was very thin before and it's a bit better now for sure, but definitely not 4,800 grafts better as of yet.

I expressed these concerns to the clinic and Dr. Arshad said that I'm "a bit behind on progress" than what he'd expect at this stage. I underwent PRP at the clinic recently for no extra cost after it had been suggested by Sommiya. She has been amazing through all of this.

The surgery itself was obviously very expensive, at over £13,000 although I feel like if many more hairs and grafts don't come through the real shame will be the waste of a more finite resource - the grafts themselves.

All I can do at this stage is take fin, apply minoxidil and hope for the best.

Has there been any further improvement these past 2 months?
Have you scheduled anything with the clinic?

Hi Bigmac.

Sorry for the delay. Here is a collage pic of pre and post procedure, and also both as single images. On the left is pre op; on the right is 13 months post op, after receiving circa 3500 grafts. The other two images show the lowered hairline, from left and right sides. You can clearly see the lack of density and the obvious gap from the original hairline.

The intention was to slightly lower the hairline and work back to the crown; of which, would have had a slightly diffused look, not virtually bald!

I've cut my hair down because it looks stupid grown out and I was sick to death of putting products on to disguise the obvious lack of density.

Cheers
Bob

Thank you Bobby for adding those. Would it be possible to start your own thread in the patient section. You could add some immediate post op pictures showing placement and donor extraction, plus a graft breakdown if possible. The clinic are welcome to address your concerns on here but may wish to discuss when you see them.

Update.

Having met with Dr Arshad and Sommiya, I can add more light to the situation and draw it to a close.

I am getting married this July and expected to be ready (18 months post-op), hair wise, for the big day. At this point, 13 months post-op, I thought I'd be almost looking the part. As you can imagine, this is an emotional experience and added stress of the wedding doesn't help.

However, having been told I'd get a brilliant outcome made me excited beyond my expectations. But a brilliant outcome is subjective to the individual. Not only that, the specifics of the individual and characteristics of the individual's hair come into play. I had never been told my hair was on the thin side and of course that affects the illusion of density. I had also never been told that certain surgeons only operate on individuals which will offer the best density outcome. I guess one never stops learning.

Dr Arshad was extremely understanding and genuinely concerned about me, and we discussed my situation at length. I think we both took away something from the meeting; managing expectations and reality of outcomes. It makes me sound like a complete novice, but I had done a lot of research into this, being my second surgery; clearly not enough. I guess it's easy to look at other people's outcomes and expect similar for yourself, without considering the variables.

The meeting with Dr Arshad was very productive and he completely restored my faith in him and the clinic. I require a top-up surgery and this will be done after my wedding. I am really looking forward to receiving the top-up.

All the best

Bob

This is great news Bob!!

The understanding Dr Arshad and his team have of the emotional roller coaster hair loss brings as well as a HT is one of the reasons I’m happy I chose the Hair Dr for my procedure. I wanted to just have 1 HT and be done with it and needing a top up was a bit of a grind but the support the clinic gave me and reassured me from day 1 that they wanted me to be totally happy with the result made it all worth while. If I would have needed a top up from a HT abroad it would have been a right pain, flights, cost, time off work etc. So again another plus 1 for staying in the UK and choosing Dr Arshad. I’m not sure on other clinics for there procedure for top ups but I got another 1000 grafts added at no extra cost which was to make my result go from 95% to 100% and the fact that Dr Arshad wanted to be happy with the final result not just me shows to me that it’s a clinic that thrives on patients being happy and they take pride in their work. I just can’t wait for my hair to start growing now so I can see the final result after my top up!!

Your last few sentences perfectly sum it up. Yes, it will be done at no extra cost to me. It really is about the patient.

Firstly, I hope you have a great wedding. I hope you have a great day.

Hair characteristics should be discussed with the patient prior to surgery by the doctor performing the surgery. Their expectations should be clear before booking surgery.

I had also never been told that certain surgeons only operate on individuals which will offer the best density outcome. I guess one never stops learning.

Would you care to share these surgeons?

Dr Arshad was extremely understanding and genuinely concerned about me, and we discussed my situation at length. I think we both took away something from the meeting; managing expectations and reality of outcomes. It makes me sound like a complete novice, but I had done a lot of research into this, being my second surgery; clearly not enough. I guess it's easy to look at other people's outcomes and expect similar for yourself, without considering the variables.

It would be beneficial to everyone reading if you documented your journey from start to finish with pictures showing the placement and your donor. From the pictures you added to this thread, the difference appears minimal.
Who did your first surgery?
How many grafts was it?
A before picture to show how successful it was?

The meeting with Dr Arshad was very productive and he completely restored my faith in him and the clinic. I require a top-up surgery and this will be done after my wedding. I am really looking forward to receiving the top-up.

How many grafts will this second surgery consist of? How many grafts are left in your donor? Are you on hair loss meds?

All the best

Bob

Hi all, I’ve been considering this clinic for a while but got a bit concerned after seeing that a large amount of people posting on here and another forum have needed a ‘top up’ due to density issues.

I don’t think I’ve seen any of the results post top-up just yet (apologies if I missed them!) If anyone out there can share their experiences it would be appreciated. I don’t necessarily mind having a ‘top up’ if it means that the final result is more or less perfect, but if poor yields have been occurring even after a second pass then that would be reason to avoid. Thanks in advance guys

This is yet another poor Hair dr result. Link to result
It is clear that the clinic is just not very good now.
Have they had some good results previously? Yes, absolutely but lately- here and another well known form, there are more failed results with really low yields than there are solid results.

Their social media "story posts " results are quite often of patients from well over 12 months ago when they were getting good results.
In particular the hairline density is poor amongst most patients from this clinic.

Something has definitely changed here from circa 24 months ago. My educated guess is the technician experience.

I've read that they are opening a second surgery with Dr Hamza as the lead surgeon. I've not seen any of his work so he may be a great Dr, but as I understand he has been trained by Dr Arshad so is hugely inexperienced in the grand scheme of things and compared to leading HT Dr's.

I've followed many of the hair dr results and there is a common theme here....

@Dave_2022 I have removed your post from johnboys thread and added it here which is the topic thats more suited to your post.

Johnboy is wanting support right now. In future, could you offer support to patients and tell us about your own HT or hair loss journey.

@Dave_2022 you really do have an issue with the Hair Dr. don’t you?

I’m surprised @Bigmac allows you to continue posting such negativity that could have such a detrimental effect on its clients, especially those that are displaying some emotional fragility.

Just a guess, but I imagine the clinic post ‘over 12-month’ posts as this is what they, and other, clinics, recommend to wait before a transplant can be fully assessed.

Have you decided on a clinic yet @Dave_2022 ?

It’s almost a self fulfilling prophecy; there will be less people from here that choose that Dr, and those that do will be less likely to post their own threads - ergo no evidence of recent good procedures.

I think my growth has been good, considering the extent of my loss and just being just over 5 months in. I’m no expert, but it looks like a good growth ratio to me, even though it’s far from the final result:

Hi @Bobbins

Completely agree regarding the self-fulfilling prophecy. But I believe that the HT success rate across the industry is about 95%? Happy to be corrected here!

Perhaps people are being dissuaded from posting due to the harsh comments posted by this clinic’s detractors?

I’ve posted my results, which I’m happy with, but they haven’t generated much interest. I guess negative results from this clinic generate more comments….

For reference, are there any results on here that are poor other than The Hair Drs?

Thanks :)

Early growth seems to be common in the more recent Hair Dr. cases (myself and the top ups that have been documented on here).

Yours does look fab too! Perhaps we’ll both appear on a future show reel… ;-)
