It has now been 18 months since my first surgery and I wanted to provide an update.

The main development has been the change in the quality of the hair. It has improved over time and blended in with the native hair nicely.

I have had regular meetings with Dr Bisanga and UK representative Sl and their post-operative care has been out of this world (I recently had a one hour phone call with Sl on a Saturday morning!).

I am now considering a second surgery with Dr Bisanga to address my crown with approximately 1,000 grafts (a small number in order to conserve my donor).


My hair loss isn't hugely evident when kept short (grade 2-4), however it becomes evident when the hair is longer (grade 8+) and therefore discourages me from growing a longer hairstyle.

I'm planning to discuss the prospect of addressing my crown with BHR over the coming months and I'll follow their recommendation(s).

I'm currently 40 and use Regaine (5%) twice a day. I also take half a teaspoon of nettle root powder daily (I've decided to refrain from using Propecia to date).

Your hair looks awesome. Another 1000 in the crown will provide a good covering, are you going to re create a swirl?

Looks really good, I would stick with the shorter look too if it were me as it really suits you....I look forward to hearing about your crown when the time comes dude. How do you feel the nettle root has worked for you?...looking at the pics it seems to be helping in maintaining for you which is awesome.

I can €™t say if the nettle root powder is working but I can say I €˜ve not experienced any noticeable hair loss since I first started taking it (this coincided around the same time as my first hair transplant).

I will let Dr Bisanga decide on what is best for the crown (Steve, please feel free to add anything you would like to here). I €™ve developed an excellent relationship with BHR and I have 100% confidence in their ability.

I had considered waiting until I €™m 45 (I €™m 40 now) when I expect to have more hair loss in the crown. I still have hair in the crown although as you can see, I have miniaturisation and density is minimal. I like to keep my hair short and my crown doesn €™t bother me when I do, but I would like to have the option to grow my hair longer but I €™m discouraged to do so as the hair loss in my crown becomes much more noticeable.

I €™ve decided on a conservative approach and I won €™t be furthering my hairline. I plan to use all of my remaining grafts (approximately 2,500) maintaining the results of my first hair transplant (hairline and forelock) and addressing the midscalp and crown. The proposed plan is therefore to add 1,000 grafts into the crown to achieve even coverage and give me the option to grow my hair longer.

Hi Gri Gri man, your result is very good to date. As for your crown, I think the approach you are taking with 1000 grafts is good, I would take a similar approach if in your position. Thinning crowns look better with shorter hair, it's getting the hair length right that makes it look better and match the surrounding hair on the sides.It's intersecting you think you have not lost more hair using nettle root, is there a specific place you buy it from.


It's also good to hear Dr Bisanga and Stephen have a good relationship with you.

Thank you for the comments Bigmac and I value your opinion on the 1,000 grafts. I bought the nettle root powder online and it has lasted me forever.
