Dr. Hasson Pimped My Wig

Hey SP,

thanks. Ya, here's two more shots w/my hair buzzed down, wet, and pushed up; sorry the quality is pretty bad. Dr. Hasson said I probably have 3-4K grafts left. I had below average scalp laxity ( I was never consistent w/scalp exercises, assuming that because I was a virgin scalp I'd be good) and he said above average density. The entire experience was VERY liberating/exciting & Hasson, Joe, and the entire tech staff were phenomenal. I wrote about my surgery day (scroll down to mid page) here if your interested:

Day 7 (8 if including surgery day)---Dry/Cracky/Scabby Fungal Skin

WARNING GROTESQUE PICTURES!!! :)

seriously though, it looks like I have athletes foot on my head! Fungus growing from my scalp. lol actually the close up pictures make it look much worse than the mirror does. I really don't care though & it's not bothering me. Up to this point I would say I have been fairly conservative w/my hair washing, but after day 7 I'm told the only thing which could remove my grafts would be a severe blow to the head. So, I can breathe a deep sigh of relief & take off my proverbial chastity belt from my head. I made it! Seriously, I must say it is a bit relieving knowing that I can no longer do damage to these bad boys. I was a bit paranoid the first few days. So starting tomorrow night I'm going to play hard ball w/this fungus JUNK a top my mop---soak in warm/steamy shower...then go to town on this gunk w/a heavy handed wash, then getted lubed up before I dive into bed---slap a palm full of vitamin E oil atop my head and call it a night & I can NOT wait to shave my head and rid myself of this Balded Bozo look!

Hi NG,all looks normal to me,the camera is just enhancing the scabs as it picks up more detail than the naked eye.

You are looking like Krusty though,it will be a huge relief when you get your hair cut and appear as normal as possible considering.

cheers bm.

Hey Ng,

thx for them top down shots as i thought we have virtually identical lose diffuse 4-5 with the island of hair in the front,i really cant wait for your mop to grow in,gives me hope that i could achieve a good result.

Although i keep my hair buzzed very short G-0 to G-1 i,m gonna grow it out a little probably G3 to G4 to compare with yours, did H+W say how many grafts you would need to fully restore? i guess around 6-7k FU would be you done and dusted with the native hair you have and perhaps some regrowth from the meds.

Once again congrats

SP,

We didn't discuss how many grafts would fully restore me; I guess because I already knew I wanted max grafts and because he agreed to go for them. He did say "your going to LOVE it...I packed it REALY dense"; and I liked that! I'm hoping that the 4K grafts + native hair + meds (which will hopefully thicken up my crown & vertex, and potentially preserve the native hair on my mid scalp) will leave me happy w/my results. Dr. Hasson put about 3,300 in my frontal thirdish area and 700 extending behind this. In all, *almost* the entire top of my scalp was 'covered'. I would say he stopped about a half an inch from where the crown technically begins on a NW 5.

If for whatever reason I'm not happy w/my coverage/density, then I would probably go for another mega session in the future to address whatever area(s) remain. At the least, hopefully this will drastically improve my situation and hold me off for several years.

We shall see.

Here's one more top down pic that shows the entire recipient area clearer than I previously posted. As you can tell I'm taking a lot of pics of these bad boys so I have something to remember them by when they all fall out. This was ~ day 3.

Congrats NG on making it past the 7 days. It's fun following your progress. You got some work to do as far as those scabs go. It'll take about 5 days or so before they're all gone. Keep us posted.

Thanks Janna...I hope you guys don't think I just enjoy snapping shots of myself & I'm going to do so for the next ~360 days lol...I just want to show the recovery period in good detail.

Day 8

-got so tired of the balding bozo look in the mirror, that I shaved it down tonight; after all, I got a ht SPECIFICALLY to avoid *that* look!
-I'm very happy w/the way it looks shaved down. You hear a lot on the forums about the "shaved 'LOOK'" but IMO if you don't have a hair line + at least stubble coverage then you simply appear bald. This experience only solidifies my thoughts on the matter, since I buzzed it down not too long ago w/OUT a hair line and I didn't like it nearly as much. My back up plan (if for whatever reason I don't achieve the density I desire) has always been the same: get two mega sessions giving me a relatively robust hair line & coverage extending to my crown then FUE into scar so I can buzz it down. I knew (and now know) I would be MUCH happier even w/that limited option as opposed to no hair line, no stubble & merely a shiny, slap skinned bald shaved head.

-I'm going to take pics showing the entire length of the scar/staples before I take them out.

Day 8
-those scabs toward the back of my scalp aren't from grafts but from the anesthesia. For some reason ( c;;9 ) I had a very high tolerance to it...vino & New Castles *nl? So Dr. Hasson had to add more a couple of times. At one point I felt the scalpel during my strip removal & the blade when he was making incisions. Don't get me wrong, obviously it wasn't as though the area wasn't numb at all, but I def. felt it. Was no big deal, but I thought it was strange. Also, my bleeding was very excessive. He said typically a patient stops bleeding after 5 minutes...it took me fifteen. I had a few glasses of wine 5 nights before the procedure, but he said that wouldn't cause it. I thought my blood would be thick if anything due to the fact that I smoke. meh...

Day 8

scabs are coming off w/little effort. One more steamy soak in the shower & another heavy handed wash and they'll all be gone.

Now that the skins calmed down a bit you can get a clearer look at the density.

Very nice, I think once you have grown your crowning glory it will be a super babe magnet...

.....of course, not in the league of "the babe" NN.... but we are only mortals who stand in his shadow :)

In all seriousness.... looking good my friend...

Tim

NG,looking good at day 8,you look a lot better having buzzed the hair down.

How did you find having the donor scar area buzzed, was it tricky?

As for the anaesthetic wearing off, this happened to me a little where i could feel the incisions, Smg had to pump a bit more anaesthetic in my head which was no big deal. They were asking all the time how i was and if i could feel anything.

Tim,

is NN the forum "babe" lol :) come on, then at least show us some leg NN!
I can't get a good shot of the scar/staples right now, I'll def. get good ones before I take them out Tuesday.

BM,

actually it wasn't bad at all shaving over the staples. It might be tougher w/no guard ( I used a #1 ), it did snag one time, but no biggie.

This pic isn't the best to show it, but you can see the thinning in my crown.

To offset the pics of my fungal head you've had to endure, I thought I'd post a pic of this small yet sexy feast I prepared tonight Z:B I was in a good mood, oggling my new hair line before it falls out.

On the left we have jumbo tiger shrimp, dripping in melted butter, spiced w/cayanne pepper, and seasoned to the taste w/garlic. In the center blackened tomatoes covered in black peppercorn and salt, on the right garlic mashed potatoes...and of course behind it all---The Masterpiece: a nice BIG glass of cab to gargle it down with.

hey Ng,

love your plan of attack worst case scenario get stripped out then FUE the scar and buzz down, for what its worth i think you pull a buzzcut of well, how short do you think you could go if this was the case? My plan is similar gain density using FUE perhaps 4-5k grafts then grow it probably G2 then start on strip if needed but maintain a buzzcut G 2-3 and FUE the scar if required.

BTW the density of the grafts looks amazing @10 days P/o and not a sign of the HT in the recipient bar the pinkness.I noticed you mentioned that DR H said you had excellent density could you post a pic of your doner so we can see a highly dense doner buzzed down? I;ve read people who are blond tend to have more dense doners i'm hoping this is the case for me as i was very blond as a kid

grow well
