-I just started taking proscar 3 days post op; no meds prior.
-I'm going to include a TON of pre-op shots under various conditions & lengths, so people can get a very detailed picture of what my hair looked like pre-op. Hopefully this will help anyone doing research (once mine grows out) as this was something that frustrated me when looking through other's blogs; however, these pictures are over ~ a 2 yr period.

-this second set is about 8-11 months ago; the hair is a bit longer (for another consult) & w/zero product. I believe my hair loss accelerated quite a bit ( i wasn't on meds) over the past year, as is evident from the pictures. This is when it began becoming intolerable to me.

I *hate* this pic!!! This is about 3 months ago & I grew my hair VERY long to see how thin my native hair was. No product, not styled and pushed to the side to show recession.

massive cul-de-sac of baldness. I hate seeing the glorious, glistening sunshine off this bad boy when I catch my reflection in a store window or mirror. ::;mb I used to have a 'v' shape recession, but as you can see here it resembles much more of an 'i' :whatever: at this point any attempt to 'style' my "hair" proved to be an exercise in futility. This is really what pushed me over the edge and I knew it was time for me to get a ht.

-day 3 & my forehead is swollen.
-I believe around 3,300 or so grafts went into my frontal 1/3-ish area ( Dr. Hasson gave me a counter and every 100 incisions I was to count '1'. He made ~3K prior to the final graft tally, then when the #'s were in he finished the incisions) and 700+ tapering off the back top of my head. This not only gave me as much coverage as possible but will also leave my ht undetected if/when I lose the rest of my native hair on top; since the grafts are subtlety tapered off, not leaving a line of sorts.

-here you can see how far back Hasson was able to go. I was VERY happy about this as it's clear I'm thinning all over the top of my head. The only thing worse than looking in the mirror and seeing less hair than you used to have is knowing that the hair you do have is going too, but not knowing when. H&W say the ONLY hairs that would be permanently lost in a ht are those that are:
(a) transected; which is why they require shaving down and hence it is a non-issue; or (b) those hairs which are so weak they are on their way out soon anyway. I really can't put enough emphasis on how important it was to me to have grafts transplanted w/in my diffusely thinning native hair. Even if I knew I was going to permanently lose all of my native hair in the area, and was left w/a net wash I would gladly opt to do so, knowing that the new hair is permanent.

-if you look closely you can see the shaved native hair below my new hair line at the front/center of my hair line---the darkish shade below. Dr. Hasson didn't want to go as low as that small tuft of hair on my new hair line; he said he could do so, but he wouldn't be able to achieve as much density if we went that low. I'm glad we kept it a bit higher so I could have better density.
